In 1997 the Game went to a transition from 2D to 3D as the gaming market wanted to go further in to the future with 3D gaming...So The Next Franchise came out in Arcades and was immediately a big hit....Later the game was released on the consoles, for Playstation and N64.....

Before the game was what is is today a Beta Version was made with NOOB SAIBOT on the select screen,
In 1999 the game was released as Mortal Kombat GOLD for Dreamcast which had more characters and far better graphics....
